The Process
I work with adolescents and young adults experiencing mental health challenges and/or relationship difficulties. We start by building a safe and comfortable environment, then move into reducing symptoms or relational distress, and finally, we attempt to better understand the cause and build resiliency for future success.
I utilize a three-tiered approach to therapy. Foundationally, I utilize a Person-Centered framework of empathy and unconditional acceptance. My primary lens is Interpersonal Therapy, the use of the relationship between the client and therapist to understand the underlying cause of the problem and work together toward change. In order to assist in the change process, I often use strategies from Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
